Bag culture management After inoculation, the Hericium erinaceus bags enter the spawning culture stage.
(1) Cultivation site The main requirements for the cultivation site of Hericium erinaceus are a clean environment, light and rain protection, temperature and light control, good ventilation conditions, and a relatively dry ground without moisture.
Professional Hericium erinaceus production plants (farms) should set up special bag culture rooms. First of all, the site for building a special culture room should be selected. Attention should be paid to the terrain, orientation, main wind direction and traffic conditions. The ideal site requirements are: facing north and south, warm in winter and cool in summer, high and dry terrain; clean environment, fresh air; convenient transportation, water source and power supply; no livestock and poultry houses, grain and feed warehouses within 30 meters, especially to avoid mites and other damage; far away from factories that produce fermented foods such as wine, koji making, and vinegar making. The spawning room can be made of civil structure or brick-concrete structure. The room design requires that it should be both airtight and ventilated, and have a certain amount of scattered light. The walls should be painted with lime and the floor should be smoothed with cement. In order to improve the utilization rate of the site, a culture rack can be built indoors to discharge the mushroom bags.
For non-professional production in rural households, the cultivation site can use existing housing and empty sheds and empty rooms for cultivating other edible fungi. For such sites, insect and bacteria prevention treatment is required, especially anti-mite treatment, to prevent mites, miscellaneous bacteria, etc. from harm.
For small-scale cultivation, the culture room and mushroom shed can be combined into one, and even the inoculation room, culture room, and mushroom shed can be combined into one for production and cultivation. The biggest advantage of this is to reduce the handling of mushroom bags and reduce labor intensity. However, this approach has low site utilization and is not conducive to large-scale production.
It usually takes 30 days to culture Hericium erinaceus. The first 3 to 4 days are the germination and colonization period, and the mycelium growth period begins 4 days later. The quality of mycelium development is directly related to the development and growth of the fruiting body. Therefore, during the cultivation process, it is necessary to create the most suitable environmental conditions in accordance with the requirements of the mycelium growth and development of Hericium erinaceus to promote the healthy growth of mycelium.
