What Factors Should Be Considered When Planning an Air Compressor Room for a Mushroom Factory?

Many edible mushroom production facilities focus solely on replacing filter elements while overlooking the environmental layout of the air compressor room itself. Factors such as room temperature, ventilation, isolation distances, and equipment placement directly determine the load and service life of the entire purification system. Proper room planning combined with standardized, tiered maintenance not only extends the lifespan of filter elements and drying equipment but also prevents oil, moisture, odors, and contaminants from entering fermentation tanks at the source, thereby significantly reducing losses due to spoiled cultures.

1. Room Location and Isolation Requirements (Mandatory Standards for Edible Mushroom Cleanrooms)

a. Physical Isolation:

The air compressor room must be completely separated from the fermentation/Class 10,000 cleanroom by walls and have independent doors and windows. Exhaust and pressure-relief air ducts must not recirculate air into the clean zone; this prevents oil residue, moisture, and odors from infiltrating the fermentation air supply lines.

b. Distance from Contamination Sources:

Air intakes must be positioned away from boilers, disinfection tanks, spent substrate piles, and sewage channels. This prevents ammonia, moldy odors, and disinfectant fumes from being drawn into the compressor, minimizing air supply odors at the source.

c. Ceiling Height and Ventilation:
Ceiling height ≥ 3.5m; maintenance aisles of ≥ 1.2m on both sides of the units; overhead space reserved for heat dissipation;
Forced mechanical exhaust plus fresh air intake; room temperature controlled at ≤ 35°C in summer (high temperatures accelerate lubricating oil breakdown and cause a sharp drop in dryer efficiency).

d. Flooring and Piping Layout:

Impermeable, hardened flooring with drainage channels; centralized layout for all purification equipment and air storage tanks; piping installed with a uniform 1‰ slope and automatic drain valves at low points to ensure accumulated water does not flow into the clean air supply section.

e. Power Supply:

Independent power circuits for the air compressor, refrigerated dryer, adsorption dryer, and filtration system, equipped with overload protection to prevent unexpected shutdowns during the fermentation air supply process.

2. Equipment Layout Priorities
a. Air compressor → Air receiver tank → Refrigerated dryer → Three-stage precision filter → Activated carbon odor-removal filter → Adsorption dryer → Clean piping (leading to the fermentation workshop).

b. Arrange equipment in a single linear row to shorten connecting piping, thereby minimizing pressure loss and condensate accumulation.

c. Position the air receiver tank at a low level to facilitate gravity-based separation of oil and water, making it easier for the electronic drain valve at the bottom to discharge condensate and impurities.
