Should water be added during the Morel cultivation process?
There is a popular saying in the industry: dry cultivation and wet fruiting.
This sentence is quite misleading. First, the standard of dryness has not been determined; second, Morchella is naturally humid.
Due to the different cultivation environments, the water holding capacity of the soil itself and the moisture retention of the greenhouse are different during the cultivation of Morchella. In addition, with different intensities of light exposure, even on the basis of covering the perforated black mulch film, in many places, the moisture on the surface of the soil is often too low, or even the soil turns white during the long-term cultivation of the bacteria, which will seriously affect the cultivation effect.
Our experience is: as long as the mycelium is not physiologically mature, when the soil is short of water, it must be replenished in time. The harm of water shortage is very serious, which will cause the mycelium on the surface of the soil to die, the primordium cannot occur or it will dry up after it occurs, and the mycelium on the surface of the soil will turn white after the dry soil is watered, and no mushrooms will be produced.
There are many ways to replenish water. When the water shortage is not serious, the soil moisture and the humidity in the greenhouse can be gradually increased by ditch irrigation or micro-spraying directly on the cover film in small amounts and multiple times. If the lack of water is serious, you can directly remove the film and use micro-spray to replenish water in small amounts multiple times until it is suitable and then cover the film to moisturize.
