Key points for pretreatment and mixing of raw materials for the production of Pleurotus eryngii 

1. Pretreatment of raw materials
Cottonseed hulls and corn cobs need to be soaked in advance. The soaking time should be soaked thoroughly without white core. Usually, they are soaked for 12 hours and then drained for use the next day.

Sawdust should be sieved for use to prevent hard objects from scratching the bag when bagging. Corn cobs and sawdust should be uniform in coarseness and fineness, and the particle size should not exceed 10mm.

2. Preparation of culture medium
According to the formula, various raw materials such as sawdust and pre-wetted raw materials are converted into volume. According to the capacity of the first-level mixer, half of the main ingredients are added first, and then corn flour and other auxiliary materials are added. After stirring for 5 minutes, the remaining half of the main ingredients are added. After stirring for another 5 minutes, the moisture content and pH value are adjusted. The moisture content is required to be 62%~65%, and the pH value is 7.5~7.8. After the measurement is completed, it can be put into the second-level mixing and third-level mixing. Each level of mixing requires 10 minutes, and then bagged (bottled).

There are two key points to note when mixing :
First, the raw materials must be mixed evenly and the humidity must be consistent, without dry materials and dead corners;
Second, the raw materials must not become rancid during the stirring process, especially in hot seasons. Install a fan above the mixer to remove the heat generated during the stirring process in time to reduce heat and rancidity.
