Indoor Cultivation Stick Perforation
In an indoor environment, perforating cultivation sticks acts as a mechanical stimulus. After punching, the sticks suddenly receive oxygen, activating metabolism. It is important to provide intermittent short ventilation periods to prevent overheating (“burning” of mycelium) and supply diffused light. Maintain air humidity at 75%–80%, and keep CO₂ concentration within the substrate block below 0.15% to encourage new mycelial growth from the injured areas. In Tonghua mountain farms, it generally takes about 4 to 7 days for the mycelium to recover after perforation. From late April to early May, cultivation sticks are gathered in small shelters where temperature fluctuations, light exposure, and underground moisture contribute to the mycelium at the perforation sites gradually changing from white to “black bud eyes.”
